Distribution Center Operator- Various Shifts
The Distribution Center Control Room Operator controls the operation of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) in unity with the DC staff activity at the Distribution Center. Using the Warehouse Management System (WMS), monitors and records movement of product through the warehouse based on scheduled loading and receiving appointments. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interface with both WMS and AS/RS to control the flow of materials in support of work schedules.
Stage orders to the pick-lane for order selectors.
Ensure orders are completed prior to loading, release trucks for loading.
Identify and communicate exception conditions including shorted orders, cycle counts, releases, and status of orders.
Compare inbound receipts to WMS Receiving Verification Report.
Update data and status conditions in ERP relative to received and shipped orders.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AS/RS, involving supervision and/or Maintenance personnel as needed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Main contact for warehouse floor-staff when Supervisor is not available.
Work as a DC Loader, DC Order Selector, DC Office Staff and/or DC Receiver as needed.
Daily clean-up of assigned area.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated record of progressive accomplishment and interaction management skills.
Minimum of 1 year of related Warehousing and Perishable Goods / Food Industry experience.
Solid operational knowledge of refrigerated / frozen warehousing best practices.
Basic knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures.
Competent operational ability and acceptable knowledge of Microsoft Office software or comparable business applications.
Ability to work effectively and maintain deadlines with limited supervision.
Critical thinking and decision making skills; able to make effective decisions among primarily known / understood conditions with occasional variables.
Basic math skills including arithmetic; ability to perform and interpret basic calculations related to count, weight, time, rate, and distance.
Verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow instructions and to clearly express ideas in a concise and professional manner.
Effective collaborative skills; must perform comfortably in group settings.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Strong work ethic with history of good attendance.
Capacity for stress in service-oriented environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance, ability to push/pull objects up to 2,500 pounds using material handling equipment.
Must be able to perform physical work in a variety of positions and at various heights includes bending, stooping, reaching and twisting of arms and body movement and sitting for extended periods of time.
Tolerate a variety of temperatures conditions.
Must possess and maintain forklift operator certificate.
