Lean Six Sigma Black Belt*


Working independently, the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is responsible for planning and leading strategic initiatives that impact the entire organization.  They direct cross-functional business teams to identify and evaluate new opportunities.  They act as the liaison between Business Senior Executives and Information Technology Management to deliver projects that improve CROPP Cooperative’s competitive advantage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages Continuous Improvement Projects utilizing CROPP’s methodologies and processes
  • Provides critical business direction and decisions for multiple projects and initiatives
  • Promotes teamwork by encouraging the involvement of all team members in discussions and facilitating problem solving sessions
  • Identifies and resolves critical issues
  • Leads the business in continuous improvement by assessing the business needs and providing process and best practice solutions
  • Provides leadership to process teams through effective communication, team building and mentoring
  • Gather functional and technical requirements and conduct interviews to capture information regarding as-is processes.
  • Analyze existing business processes and provide recommendations for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Convert customer needs into technical requirements and work with developers to ensure those requirements are translated correctly into working software and solutions
  • Construct process flow diagrams to illustrate visual representation of activities and relationships.
  • Create and maintain documentation of processes and solutions implementation.
  • Define new business processes to take advantage of technology in a manner consistent with enterprise objectives and the enterprise software architecture
  • Oversee implementation activities, to include data migration, user training, change management, and testing activities of solutions
  • Handles confidential information with discretion



Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategic vision and plans in conjunction with Business Sponsors, External Partners and Information Technology
  • Identifies and implements measurement standards to ensure business objectives are met
  • Manages multiple moderate to highly complex projects of various durations simultaneously utilizing CROPP’s Project Management Methodology
  • Updates supporting tracking systems with all relevant project data
  • Reports on status of project accurately and timely including key issues, delays in timelines, and timely escalation to key stakeholders and sponsors
  • Provides critical business direction and decisions for multiple projects and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor Degree preferably in Business or Technology or the equivalent in work related experience required
  • 7 - 10 years experience leading continuous improvement teams required.
  • 5-7 years experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrates superior  verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strategic planner that possesses global vision and can communicate well with leaders and associates in every discipline
  • Effective decision making, strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels and functions of the cooperative
  • Participation in the implementation of new software or software upgrades
  • Ability to resolve conflict (Vertically and Horizontally within the organization)
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent working knowledge of Visio or similar flowcharting program
  • Must have experience working with multiple groups to capture requirements
  • Experience writing business requirements
  • Experience working with business to document business process flows/swim lanes, etc.
  • Experience with continuous improvement quality tools
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work weekends and after business hours as needed
