Stephanie HornbyWhy did you decide to come to work at CROPP?
It looked like a wonderful place to work - great benefits, good pay, and it's growing. They also seemed to have a great mission, and are dedicated to producing healthy food products while helping the environment.
How long have you been with CROPP?
Since March of 2012
Why do you like working at CROPP?
The atmosphere at work is really enjoyable, and everyone is very nice. I like knowing that the company is growing, and there are opportunities to move around if you want at some point in your career. There are a lot of employees here, and everyone is working together to meet the common goal of producing healthy food products. I also really enjoy that CROPP focuses on continual training for their employees. I have had several trainings since I got here in March, and they are helping me gain more knowledge in the quality field.
What has been the best experience or day you've had at CROPP thus far?
It was a great day at CROPP when the creamery passed the BRC audit in September, because I had helped with some of the preparations.
What's your favorite perk/benefit?
My favorite perk is free OV products during work hours.
What's your favorite Organic Valley or Organic Prairie product?
It's a tie between the orange juice, and the 2% milk. They are both delicious!
Describe your typical workday at CROPP:
In the creamery lab we work four - 10 hour days a week. We have several tasks that we complete each day (taking care of the lab equipment, helping with quality issues in the creamery, making sure that the products here are within spec, etc.). We stay steadily busy throughout each day which I enjoy.
Describe your commute:My commute is a 35 minute drive from Viroqua to Chaseburg.
What other types of jobs have you held?
Two of my favorite previous jobs: I worked as a manager for UW-Platteville's student run catering service all through college, and at a CSA farm in the summer.
What are your other interests or hobbies?
I recently got married, and love to spend time with my husband, Adam. I also love to do crafts of various sorts, and run. I have two horses, and a Border collie who is 14 years old this month.
