Ceara Westaby, 20 Stockton, Illinois

A 6th generation farmer, Ceara has been farming since 2000 when her parents took over their family farm in illinois which has been in their family since 1861. Ceara’s first chore on the farm was to water the calves during morning and afternoon chores. Today, she works on milking her family’s 81 cows in addition to growing corn, beans, oats, and alfalfa. As a lover of the outdoors, Ceara wants to help people see the connection between food production and the effects various agricultural practices have on the environment. She can’t wait to share with others how her family cares about animals, the environment, and producing delicious, healthy products. Ceara says, “My generation needs to be more proactive in getting the word out and teaching people about the benefits of organic farming.”
