Organic farming protects the integrity of antibiotics, and guards against antibiotic resistance because by law, organically raised livestock may not receive antibiotics. If an organic animal becomes ill, it may be treated, but then must be removed from the organic food supply.
The next time someone tells you organic food "costs too much," remind them gently that the price of food extends beyond the check-out. Antibiotic resistant infections cost American taxpayers over $4 billion dollars per year. (11)
