Dan,Marie and I moved to Cloverdale, California in July 2002. We intended to build a house (passive solar with a small active solar system to reduce our electric consumption) and develop the five usable acres into a small organic produce business using permaculture principles....Since I have been here I have watched a stray coyote frown with disdain at Highway 101, stared down a father bobcat protecting his frolicking cubs while riding my bike down a discarded main road, and observed a hawk (unidentified) snatch his dinner from our field. These unexpected glimpses of a wild world I only dreamed about while living in suburban New Jersey most of life have made my move out here worthwhile.Your essays have added to my appreciation of the natural world that I experience more directly everyday living here... I look forward to the unexpected visits your essays provide. Thanks.Mike
