Just want to share a few bits with you. My family has enjoyed a few weeks with a large black and yellow garden spider this summer. My boys ages 6 and 3 were floored by the size and color of it. We eagerly awaited a poor unsuspecting victim just to marvel at how nature works. We are teaching our sons the importance of spiders in particular and they have come to understand at a young age not to kill or harm them. We have a procedure we follow whenever we find one lurking around the house. "Mom!!!! Spider!! Get the cup and piece of paper quick!!!" We then rescue the spider and release it in our garden. My dear husband has gotten out of bed for me to release a few. By morning they usually have moved on so we have to act quickly. We really enjoy science and nature and we too wait outside at dusk waiting for our bat friends to put on there daily Ariel show. Our next venture will be to build some bat houses. They are fascinating creatures that we want to get to know better. I will leave you with news of my hummingbird sighting yesterday. It was only for a brief moment but it actually took my breath away. Not only did it take me by surprise but I was left with such a feeling of awe. They are truly beautiful creatures. My hope is to attract some next spring after I research the subject this winter. Well, thanks for listening and for the great website! I wish you a glorious fall! Warm Regards,Rosemary
