Your picture of the ice sculpture looks very familiar ... from 1965 to 1970, my father was park manager at Wildcat Mt State Park, south of Ontario, Wisconsin.  They have a lovely little ice cave area that we used to hike in to see.  Back then, almost no one used the park during the winter, not even many of the locals.  It was a very special spot, and your picture sure did remind me of it
