Saw this on the news and it reminded me of our interview. The future of the chickens sounds pretty dire.

Nature group finishes prairie chicken project
Associated Press - October 10, 2009 6:15 AM ET
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 4-year project to transplant rare prairie chickens from northwestern Minnesota to central Wisconsin has wrapped up with the transport of the final five birds.
The nonprofit Nature Conservancy says the project has moved just over 100 birds from Minnesota to Buena Vista Marsh in central Wisconsin. Most of the birds came from the conservancy's 24,000-acre Glacial Ridge Project in northwestern Minnesota.
Wisconsin's prairie chicken population is in danger of collapsing due to loss of grassland habitat and declining genetic diversity. The final birds were delivered there on Oct. 2. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources provided most of the funding for the transfers.
