Sunning snake

Today's DNT mentions the snakes who will soon be going into hibernation. Yesterday while it was still warm and sunny I spotted a small thin "stick" on the driveway and something about it made me stop and look closer. It was a tiny baby snake of the orange-bellied variety that I often see on our property. I carefully scooted it to a safer place, laughing at its fast "s" movement that didn't seem to gain it much ground. It was no doubt enjoying what may be the last day above 65 degrees that we see for awhile. *sigh* Sometimes I wish I could just "go with-in" for the winter and stay there.
