“Nutrient-dense” foods give your brain and muscles energy, plus a variety
of good-for-you nutrients, such as protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber. “Junk
foods” are just the opposite. They contain “empty calories” – lots of energy,
but few nutrients. Chips, candy, soda, and snack cakes are mostly “empty calorie”
foods. However, don’t be fooled by “diet,” and “low-fat” labels. Just
because a food is low in calories, doesn’t guarantee smart nutrition.
Better to choose fresh, wholesome organic foods, naturally loaded with
great-tasting nutrition. And guess what? They’re quick and easy to grab
on the run, and they satisfy your hunger longer. Try an organic cheese stick
and crunchy apple — to go!
