Tour a section of Organic Valley's woodland habitat to look and listen for birds. Bird activity will be slower in the afternoon and this late in the breeding season, but some species may still be feeding newly fledged young. We will discuss local habitat, special birds of the area, and birding tips and tricks. Some binoculars will be available for loan.
There is a cornucopia of wild, edible plants all around us–we just need to step back and open our eyes. Wild foods are tasty and wholesome and, best of all, they’re free! Join local wild forager, beekeeper and broommaker, John Holzwart, on a tasty tour of wild plants in the Driftless Area. Tips for identification and preparation will be provided, as well as tales of personal experience with the plants.
Tour the FarmLinks garden plot maintained by La Farge Public School students and staff and catch the local wave that's sweeping the nation. FarmLinks is a one-of-a-kind partnership with the La Farge School District, Organic Valley, and UW-Madison, funded by the Nuzum Grant. Your tour hosts are FarmLinks students and Meaghan Gustafson, first grade teacher and coordinator of the FarmLinks program who practices “go local” at home with her family, too.
Join Seed Savers Exchange at the Tour tent (between the two workshop tents) for a "Seed Swap" from 2 - 3 p.m.
Registration is now closed for the farm tour. The tour will take place the morning of the fair and if you have already registered, check the farm tour page for information.
