Organic Valley is adding three new varieties to its shelf-stable line: Half & Half, Whole and Chocolate Reduced Fat 2%, all in one-liter cartons.
It's the first time Organic Valley is offering shelf-stable products in one-liter packages. They currently offer shelf-stable 1% Lowfat Regular, Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla milks in single serve, 8 oz. containers.
"Consumer acceptance for dairy in aseptic packaging is growing," said John Marin, commercial division sales manager for Organic Valley. "These new one liter containers offer convenience for consumers wanting more milk or cream per carton, as well as a new option for grocers and foodservice providers seeking flexibility in their storage."
The revolutionary process of aseptic packaging allows the milks and creams to be stored at room or chilled temperatures for up to six months until opened, all the while protecting nutrients and eliminating worry about the product staying fresh.
"Aseptic packages are easier to ship, easier to stock and easier on the environment," Marin added. "The shape of the carton allows us to fill an entire pack, with little unused space. That means a high product to package ratio, requiring less fossil fuels to ship. Plus, the aseptic packages are made from renewable resources."
Each variety of milk begins with healthy cows raised in harmony with nature by Organic Valley family farmers. They use no antibiotics, synthetic hormones or pesticides. Organic Valley's animals are raised humanely and given certified organic feed—never any animal by-products—and their pastures are certified organic.
