Organic Valley is helping grocers grow cheese sales by the pound—two pounds actually—with the introduction of its highly popular certified organic Mild and Sharp Cheddars in 2 lb. packages.

"Cheese is the fastest growing organic dairy category in the grocery channel," said John Marin, commercial division sales manager for Organic Valley. "It's been estimated that the organic cheese market will grow by 96 percent by 2010.

"Consumers love our Mild and Sharp Cheddars," Marin added. "We wanted to provide grocers a way to offer these cheeses at a larger size and at a good price. And, we've wrapped the blocks in distinctive colored packaging—red for Mild and black for Sharp. They'll really stand out in the cheese case."

Marin added the cheese will be available 12 packs per case. "Of course, this size is perfect for delis and restaurants, as well," he noted.

The Organic Valley Mild Cheddar recently took fourth place at the 2007 U.S. Cheese Championship. And, Organic Valley cheese has won 12 national and international taste awards since 1996.

The farmers who cooperatively own Organic Valley produce milk for their award-winning cheese using sustainable practices, and without the use of antibiotics, synthetic hormones or pesticides. Unlike most cheese available, all Organic Valley cheese is made from Grade-A organic milk. Their cows are fed certified organic feed and graze regularly on certified organic pastures.
