Organic Valley's New Vermont Cheddar Captures Classic Vermont Flavor in Three Varieties

From certified organic cows pastured in the fertile, verdant valleys of Vermont to kitchens and dining rooms nationwide, Organic Valley Family of Farms is now offering organic Vermont Cheddar Cheese, a premium cheese in celebration of its region's distinct flavor.

Organic Valley is distinct in that it offers locally produced and labeled products in various regions throughout the United States, such as Organic Valley New England Pastures milk, which comes from 155 family farmer members in New England. Vermont Cheddar is another step toward fulfilling the cooperative's regional mission.

"The entire community in Vermont—both farmers and residents—are excited to have a new locally produced cheese," said Regina Beidler, an Organic Valley farmer from Randolph Center, Vermont. "Nothing gives farmers more pleasure than being able to identify a product that includes their milk and share it with friends, neighbors and our community."

More than 60 Organic Valley family farmers are contributing to the production of the cheese, which is available in three varieties—Medium, Sharp and Extra-Sharp—in 1 lb blocks at suggested retail prices of $11.49, $11.99 and $12.49. Vermont Cheddar Cheeses are available at select organic and natural food grocers and will be distributed more broadly in the months ahead. The Vermont cheddars are white cheddars with a rich, nutty flavor, made with non-GMO animal rennet for optimal aging, body and flavor.

Twenty years ago, Organic Valley became the first organization to sell certified organic cheese nationwide. Since then, the cooperative of 1,296 organic farmers has won numerous national and international awards for the delicious cheese made from the milk of their organic cows pasturing on family farmland nationwide.
