If you're lactose intolerant, you now have many lactose free options to enjoy organic cow's milk. Organic Valley Family of Farms, providers of the nation's only lactose free certified organic milk in distribution, completes its line of lactose free offerings with the introduction of Organic Valley 2% Reduced Fat Lactose Free Milk.

Ultra-pasteurized and available in 64 oz. cartons shipped six to a case, Organic Valley's 2% Reduced Fat Lactose Free milk joins Fat Free/Skim (64 oz.) and Lowfat 1% (64 oz. and 32 oz.) in Organic Valley's lactose free line.

"One in four Americans is lactose intolerant," said Sara Tedeschi, community nutrition educator for Organic Valley. "As the only providers of lactose free certified organic milk, we are pleased to provide our customers a full variety of choices, with our 1% Lowfat, Fat Free /Skim, and new 2% Reduced Fat Lactose Free milk.

"And, because it's organic cow's milk, not only does it taste great, it provides the best calcium absorption possible," Tedeschi added.

To produce lactose free milk, Organic Valley starts with organic milk, ultra-pasteurizes it and then adds a natural enzyme, lactase. Lactase converts lactose (milk's primary carbohydrate) into glucose and galactose, which are simple sugars that are easily digested. Thanks to Organic Valley, lactose intolerant individuals can enjoy the health and nutrition benefits of real organic milk.
