Generation Organic
Is organic farming as “sexy” a profession as rock star or major league athlete? Are college courses on organics the first to fill up? Do children say they want to be organic farmers when they grow up? Not yet, says Organic Valley farmer and board member Travis Forgues, but that day will come.
Enter Generation Organic. Organic Valley's innovative program has been called a "campaign to save the family farmer from extinction" by bringing new farmers into organic agriculture.
If you are a beginning farmer, or thinking of organic farming, learn more at www.farmers.coop. If you have no plans to be an organic farmer, support one with your food choices.
2009 Gen-O Awards
Organic Valley recognizes individual young farmers in the Coop who demonstrate their commitment to organic farming and preserving family farms and rural community through leadership, stewardship and innovation. Meet this year's winners.
