I do purchase your eggs and would like an answer.Thank you.
Hi Ruth, Organic Valley farmers follow a set of production standards which encourage healthy living conditions for their birds - ample space, access to outdoors, and a 100% organic diet. Our birds are never caged or force molted. They have natural sunlight in their hen houses and free outdoor access as long as weather permits. (From our FAQ "Laying Hens : Are the birds treated humanely?") Our farmers are required to provide a minimum of 1.75 square feet per bird indoors and five square feet per bird outdoors.
In general, the birds go out after laying and come back inside before evening to protect them from predators. See our video about laying hens here.
