Great question, Emma! The sodium content in our chocolate milk is attributed to the added salt which enhances the flavor of the cocoa, giving it the delicious chocolate taste our consumers know and love. About 50% of the total sodium is naturally occurring in the cow's milk, and after recent analytical testing, we've found the sodium content to be reduced to 220mg (opposed to the 290mg that's currently listed on the label). New packaging and updates to our website will be rolling out shortly to more accurately reflect the sodium content in our chocolate milk.
Hi Grace, Thanks for your comments. It takes a careful balance to create the taste kids (and adults) will love and keep the added sugar to a minimum. We have already reduced the sugar in our chocolate lowfat milk by 2g, and will continue to work to optimize the formula while maintaining a desirable taste. It is helpful to note that 12g of the sugars listed on the nutritional panel come from the naturally occurring lactose in milk, so the added sugar is less than it may appear. Be assured that we will also never use an artificial sweetener, as our products are always organic!
Ray, we have 2% chocolate milk in a shelf-stable liter size box (which is essentially a quart) as well as the refrigeration-required cartons in both 32oz and 64oz size. Lotsa options.
