Looking for non-homogenized whole milk ... hope you can provide it!
Tracy at Organic Valley

Hi Morgan - You're in luck! We just recently released our Grassmilk™ on the west coast! It's a premium, non-homogenized milk that comes from cows that are 100% grass-fed. It's currently available at Whole Food Markets, but will be at other natural food stores and food cooperatives very soon. Cheers!

Pamela from Boscobel, WI on April 15th, 2012
I too, just came home after a trip to Viroqua Food Coop to buy non-homogenized milk. I saw that yours did not have homogenized listed, so I bought it, and now I see that it is, indeed homogenized. I just spent a lot of extra money for something I can't use for my cheese.
Tracy at Organic Valley

Hi Pamela - My apologizes for any confusion. The majority of milk sold in the US is homogenized. In fact, the process is so prevalent, and expected by consumers, that it has become the federal classification of milk. Unfortunately, we don't currently produce a non-homogenized milk in the Midwest, but will be sure to keep you posted if one ever becomes available. Thank you for your comments!

Sachin from Southern California (OC) on March 13th, 2012
Where can I find your 1 gallon milk in Southern California? Also, Do you guys have any plans of selling non-homogenized 1-gallon in Southern California? What about raw milk?
Tracy at Organic Valley

Hi Sachin,

I'd recommend using our store locator to find OV retailers in your area, and give them a call to see if they stock our gallon sized milk cartons. Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to search for individual products by store, but it's a tool we're hoping to have someday.

Also, we're very excited to inform you that we're currently in the process of launching a Grassmilk that is non-homogenized, and 100% grassfed. It is expected to hit Whole Foods Markets on the west coast by April 2012, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled! Thanks!

jenny from Traverse city, mi on February 29th, 2012
It would be great if you offered non homogenized milk!!
Tracy at Organic Valley

Thanks for the feedback, Jenny. I'll be sure our product team hears your request!

Lindsey from on February 15th, 2012
I also think it is misleading not to list that the milk is homogenized even though you are not required to do so. But I'm glad to know efforts are being made to make non-homogenized milk available. The sooner the better! =)
Tracy at Organic Valley

Thanks for the feedback, Lindsey. Please know our intent was never to mislead you. As previously mentioned, homogenization has become so prevalent that it is in fact the federal classification for milk. I'll happily pass your comments along to our product team. Be sure to keep checking back with us as we're hoping to reintroduce a non-homogenized product.

Teri from Northern Idaho on January 28th, 2012
I understood that you sold 'non homogenized milk' in the NW then I was informed by OV that you do not. Please bring back the non homogenized milk it is so much healthier for the body without fracturing the fat into glass like chards that make tiny nicks in your arteries that catch all the garbage instead of letting it slide thru..when the fat is in its natural form it does not nick your arteries! So healthy for our bodies!
Tracy at Organic Valley

Hi Teri,

You're right, due to a change in processing facilities, we are unable to continue production of our non-homogenized milk. Our hope is to explore further options, and reintroduce a non-homogenized product in the future. Thank you for your feedback. We'll be sure our product team hears your request.

Lynn from AZ on January 11th, 2012
So this particular whole milk from the Rockies is homogenized? I am so disappointed as I thought it was only pastuerized. I prefer raw but can't get it where I am and I thought you would be a viable alternative. Why don't you put that on your label? That is misleading!
Tracy at Organic Valley

Hi Lynn - Please know our intent was never to mislead you. The majority of milk sold in the U.S. is homogenized. In fact, the process is so prevalent, and expected by consumers, that the federal classification of milk is "homogenized." Because of this classification, it is not required by law to state "homogenized" on milk packaging. I hope this helps and apologize for any confusion.

Surekha from Fremont, CA on July 2nd, 2011
I am interested to find out which stores in Fremont, ca Carry the gallon size whole milk. I have two kids and i always 2 gallons of milk at a time. Quite frankly it is easier in terms of shopping trips and money.

Thanks,
Andi from Alaska on April 14th, 2011
What about a different selling strategy, where the customer has the option to clean and re-fill their plastic container? Plastic costs more to recycle then to make, so re-using seems like a better strategy, but that would require something like a long lost soda-fountain set up. The milk could be shipped in large barrels that could be cleaned and re-used, and so too could the plastic containers by the consumers.
Angie at Organic Valley

Hi Andi, Interesting idea. That would require a big switch in infrastructure, and as you note getting our retailer partners to set up, essentially, a "milk bar." Could be the wave of the future though!

Francis from PA. on January 1st, 2011
how come you don't use glass jars instead of use paper or plastic containers.
Angie at Organic Valley

Francis, We are attracted to the possibility of a reusable container. However, packaging in glass poses some negative environmental impact because of production pollutants from manufacturing, and the heavier weight of the glass container. Furthermore, the extra costs for transportation and washing come into consideration. As we continue material research, quality of product has the most impact on our packaging decisions.
