You probably know how versatile yogurt can be, but did you know that you can churn it into an ice “cream”? In this case simply pour berry yogurt from Organic Valley into the chilled canister of an ice cream maker and let it churn away. (Yes, it’s as easy as that.) Berry-dense, lilac-colored and lightly sweetened with agave nectar, it’s a snack or dessert anyone can feel good about.

Directions

1. Prepare/freeze the insert of an ice cream maker—hand-cranked or electric--according to manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to churn the yogurt into a soft-serve frozen yogurt. It will take 15-20 minutes to get to the soft-serve stage. Serve immediately or freeze it in an airtight container 2-4 hours to firm it up more. Eventually, it will firm up to a hard texture. Once it has completely hardened, take it out of the freezer about 1 hour before serving to soften it up.

Serving Suggestions

Lightly crush strawberries, blueberries or raspberries with a little sugar and let stand 15 minutes. Fold the berries into the yogurt before churning. Or serve them on top of the frozen yogurt.

This is very tasty and so easy to make. I don't have an ice cream maker, so I used 2 metal coffee cans (a small inside a larger one) and put the salt in between the two. and then had the family roll it back and forth on the floor. It became a game and in the end, everyone won and got some very good frozen yogurt ;)
