This luxurious hot chocolate comes in two versions, “naughty” (with alcohol) or “nice.” I’m partial to the naughty version… but you can’t dismiss the simple delight of a good homemade hot chocolate like the nice version! – Organic Valley Executive Chef Alex Brevik
4 cups Organic Valley Whole Milk, divided
2 ounces semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped, or 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons Organic Valley French Vanilla Half & Half
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier liqueur
2 tablespoons dark rum
1.) Combine 3 cups of the milk, chocolate and sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until chocolate is melted, whisking frequently. Bring just to a bare simmer.
2.) Whisk in remaining 1 cup milk, half & half, liqueur and rum; cook just until hot, but do not allow to boil.
For “nice” version: Omit half & half, liqueur and rum and proceed as recipe directs.
