Pita Chips

Crispy and cheesy, and making them is easy!

Prep Time: 0:15

Servings: 6

Ingredients:

1 package whole wheat pita bread
6 ounces Organic Valley Monterey Jack Cheese - Reduced Fat
lemon pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

Pre-heat oven to 350°F.

Use sharp kitchen scissors to cut around the outside edge of each piece o' pita. You should now be able to separate each pita into two separate pieces.

Note: You can season and bake the edge pieces for croutons!

Lay the pieces on a baking tray. Sprinkle Organic Valley Cheese (try reduced fat Monterey Jack, Parmesan, etc.) sparingly over the bread. The cheese is super yummy, yet using too much on the pita will prevent the "crisping" into chip form.

Sprinkle your favorite seasoning over the cheesy pita. Bake the bread until it's crispy and starts to brown at the edges (about 10 minutes). Let cool and then break into
smaller pieces.

Store in an airtight container.

Serving Suggestions:

Dunk into your favorite dip/schmear, hummus, or savory soup.

Note:

Kids in the Kitchen:

Cutting pita bread with scissors can be great fun for all kitchen helpers. If you're feeling extra creative, try separating the pieces and using cookie cutters to create fun shapes for the kids!

All hands on deck for the cheese sprinkling too! Try a few different blends of seasonings: lemon pepper, Italian seasoning, Herbs de Provence, and even curry can taste awesome (especially w/ Jack cheese) on these pita chips.

Enjoy.
