Before “organic” was an official USDA program, it was just a scrappy group of farmers who thought food should be raised with care — not synthetic chemicals. Our cooperative’s founding CEO, George Siemon, literally helped write the very first organic standards on an orange piece of paper (true story). Those early roots helped shape the national organic standards we trust today.
