Organic isn’t just how we farm.

It’s how we fight for the future and protect your food.

Since 1988, our cooperative of small organic family farms has worked in harmony with nature to produce real food while protecting the ecosystems that sustain us. From lower on-farm greenhouse gas emissions to an overall lower carbon footprint for our cooperative business, we’re creating a food system that looks to give back more than it takes.

The Earth Dinner®

At Organic Valley, we put a lot of care, love, and respect into our farming. In return, the Earth offers up a bountiful harvest of food in a beautifully sustainable way. The Earth Dinner® is our way of supporting a healthy planet by raising awareness and promoting the need for environmentally sustainably grown foods. We invite you to take a seat at the table and enjoy delicious, organic dairy, eggs, and produce that benefit you and the world around you.

Farms That Help Clear the Air

We know that excess carbon in the atmosphere is a major driver of climate change. By using climate-smart farming practices like planting trees, improving soil health, and rotational grazing, our farms are doing their part to slow climate change by sequestering carbon.

400,000+ Acres Protected (and Counting)

Small organic family farms are helping the environment in a big way by protecting hundreds of thousands of acres of organic farmland across the country. These aren’t just fields—they’re buzzing, blooming, mooing ecosystems where nutritious food grows and nature gets to do its thing.

Carbon Neutral by 2050

We’ve set a big goal: reach carbon neutrality by 2050. That means reducing emissions across our farms, facilities, and supply chain while expanding climate-smart practices that help protect the planet for future generations. And thanks to the work already happening on our farms, we’re ahead of schedule to implement over 1,200 climate-smart practices.

Recyclable Packaging

We’re rethinking packaging, too. Our Tetra Pak® cartons are now recyclable in more than 50% of U.S. communities, and we’ve added clear How2Recycle® labels to make it easier for you to do your part.

We’re also exploring ways to use more post-consumer recycled materials across our product lines — so the good inside is matched by what’s on the outside.

24% Fewer Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Our farms average 24% lower greenhouse gas emissions than the typical U.S. dairy farm, thanks to smaller herds, rotational grazing, and fewer pesticides and synthetic fertilizer.

540+ Million Pounds of Chemicals Off the Land

By not using synthetic chemicals on our farms, we’ve kept over 540 million pounds of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers off the land since 1988.

Protecting Pollinators, Birds and Biodiversity

Our farms host 30% more biodiversity than conventional farms. By avoiding harmful chemicals and planting pollinator-friendly crops and pastures, our farms support: native bees and butterflies, songbirds and raptors, soil microbes and earthworms.

100% Renewable Energy

We power our owned offices and facilities with sun and wind, not fossil fuels, so that your food comes from a supply chain that cares about clean energy and responsible sourcing — all with the intent of creating a better world for us all to live in.
