Burger night meets Mexican night. These flavorful fajita burgers will quickly become a favorite addition to your recipe rotation. The tortilla chips mixed with the burger are an unexpected delight and yes, they will stay crunchy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 tablespoons taco/fajita seasoning (approximately one packet, divided into 2 equal portions)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 handfuls crushed tortilla chips (for best crunch use yellow)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 large bell pepper, cut into approximate ¼-inch strips
  • 1 medium white or yellow onion, cut into approximate ¼-inch strips

Directions

  1. In a skillet on medium to medium-high heat, add butter.
  2. Once butter is melted, add bell pepper and onion and stir.
  3. Add half the taco/fajita seasoning to the skillet.
  4. Cook 6-12 minutes or until vegetables are hot and slightly softened.
  5. Remove skillet from heat and set aside.
  6. In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, the remaining portion of taco/fajita seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Add crushed tortilla chips and mix until well incorporated.
  7. Form into 4 patties taking care to be gentle and not pressing too hard.
  8. Cook patties with desired method to preferred doneness being sure to add 2 slices of spicy cheddar cheese per burger after flipping. This is also a good time to toast the buns. Add butter to the cut side and toast for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Top burgers with fajita topping and enjoy!
