Organic Valley Vermont Cheddar Cheese is made from the milk of cows pastured in the fertile, verdant valleys of award-winning, multigenerational Vermont organic family farms. Our Medium, Sharp and Extra-Sharp Vermont Cheddars are white cheddars with a rich, multifaceted flavor, made with animal rennet for optimal aging, body and flavor. We hand select the cheeses that become our Vermont Cheddar because the longer a cheese ages, the more intense the flavor becomes. It’s important to start with the very best.

I tried the Extra Sharp Cheddar this week and find it to be bland, more like a commercial mild cheddar than an extra sharp. It is OK for cooking but does not have enough body to stand on its own for snacking or for a cheese plate. I think extra sharp cheddars should command attention when you eat them, this one snoozes.

The Vermont Extra Sharp Cheddar is my all-time favorite Organic Valley cheese. I brought it to two family gatherings over the Christmas holiday last year, and while the competition was strong, it was by far the favorite finger food. If you want to convince your stubborn family and friends that organic is the way, this cheese is one of the heavy hitters you may want to use!
