Proudly cooperative. Fiercely independent. Not to mention: mighty successful.
“Cooperative” in name and in action. Business happens differently here, and we’re all better for it.
When Organic Valley began as the Coulee Region Organic Produce Pool (aka CROPP) in 1988, the year 2017 could not have seemed further away. But our simple idea had big plans.
Today, Organic Valley is the world’s first, and only, $1 billion all-organic brand. Over 2000 farmer-owners strong. 900 employees deep. Nearly 30 years old. We make our decisions the same way we always have, democratically, for the benefit of all—not for a handful of Wall Street bankers or investors.
Staying true to a handful of simple principles has helped our mission blossom: delivering a farmer-owned, organically-driven, sustainable business model that prioritizes the health of family farms and consumers.
Our good fortune is proof that even in a deeply divided world, cooperation is truly where it’s at.
COOPERATIVES ARE A REMINDER TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO PURSUE BOTH ECONOMIC VIABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.
—United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, speaking on the International Year of Cooperatives 2012
