Picture This: Protecting the Planet
Organic Valley farmers are down to earth, literally. It’s not unusual to see them on their knees checking the soil and forages to make sure all is in good health. Here is a look at ways these down-to-earth farmers are working toward a healthier planet.

Reducing Farm Emissions Without Carbon Offsets
Carbon offsetting occurs when a company purchases carbon credits from a project developer or broker and “applies” the credits to its carbon footprint. Carbon insetting is the practice of investing in carbon reductions and/or removals within a company’s own supply chain.

Soil Sampling and Carbon Sequestration
Organic Valley is working with an innovative company to get soil carbon information much faster. If the pilot program is successful, the goal is to share the technology with our member farms. Increasing soil carbon is part of the climate solution.

What is Silvopasture?
Farmers at five Organic Valley farms in Pennsylvania are planting trees to implement an agroforestry practice called silvopasture. The practice is beneficial to animals, the ecosystem and can be profitable for small family farms.

Major Benefits of Having Goats
Organic Valley welcomed about 65 goats to its campus in Cashton, Wisconsin. The goats are nibbling away invasive species as part of a project to restore a prairie and rare oak savanna. The goats provide an eco-friendly solution to clearing unwanted plants and shrubs.
