Inside the Tea Industry with Ahmed Rahim

Ahmed Rahim is the co-founder, CEO and “Chief Alchemist” behind Numi Organic Tea, the largest premium, organic, fair-trade-certified tea company in North America. He and his sister, Reem, were inspired to create Numi Tea by the desire to share a tea made from dried desert lime that they enjoyed as children—the drink of hospitality in Iraq—with the world.

Today Ahmed and Reem are not merely responsible for Numi becoming a world leader in the tea industry, this sibling duo has also made Numi a world leader in social good. They created the Numi Foundation in order to better the lives and situations of the farmers that Numi Tea partners with, and through the foundation’s H2OPE initiative they’ve been bringing clean water to communities that desperately need it.

In addition to all of his work at the Numi Foundation, Ahmed is also the co-founder of OSC2, a coalition that brings visionary leaders from sustainable businesses together to magnify their positive impact, protect the environment, and incite greater change.

On this episode Ahmed covers tea, social responsibility, environmentalism and more.
