Salted sweet cream cold break with Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream.

Salted Sweet Cream Cold Brew

Love iced coffee but don’t know how to make cold brew coffee? This one is for you! Coffee grounds and water steep together overnight leaving you with smooth, strong cold brew coffee that's ready in the morning when you are. Top the cold brew with delicious salted sweet cream and you're ready to take on the day.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Rest time: 12 hours
Total: 12 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

Cold brew

  • 1/4 cup ground coffee
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 Tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, brown sugar or granulated sugar)

Salted sweet cream

  • 1/2 Tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, brown sugar or granulated sugar)
  • 2 Tablespoons Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Organic Valley Half & Half
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Cold brew

  1. Add the coffee grounds and water to a French press. Lid the French press and push the plunger down just enough to submerge the coffee grounds in the water. Let sit overnight in the fridge for 12 hours. See notes for alternative method. In the morning, use the plunger to slowly press the coffee grounds to the bottom. Pour the cold brew coffee into a tall glass, stir in maple syrup and top with ice.

Salted sweet cream

  1. Using a handheld milk frother, blender or electric mixer, whip the salted sweet cream ingredients until frothy and creamy. Pour over the cold brew.

Make cold brew coffee without a French press

If you do not have a French press, you can mix the coffee grounds and water together in a mason jar. After 12 hours, place a coffee filter or cheesecloth inside a fine mesh strainer. Pour the cold brew and grounds into the filter, allowing the cold brew to strain through into a glass or bowl.

Make this recipe ahead of time! Double or triple recipe, so it's ready when you need it. Discard the coffee grounds after 12 hours, and store the cold brew in the fridge until you're ready to use it. Whip up the salted sweet cream ahead of time and store in the fridge, as well.

Salted sweet cream can also be served over hot coffee.

Better With Butter

Not only does adding a pat of Organic Valley Butter to your coffee make it rich and creamy, but it also offers great health benefits.

Dietary fats slow the absorption and digestion of other foods in the body, such as coffee. This means, the healthy fats in Organic Valley Butter slow the absorption of caffeine, reducing jitters and crashes and providing slower, longer lasting energy. Adding healthy fats to your coffee is especially important if you're drinking coffee on an empty stomach. Both unsalted and salted butter taste great in coffee.

Another great addition to your morning coffee is a scoop of collagen powder. Collagen powder is packed full of protein. This will help to keep you full longer and balance the effects of caffeine, giving you longer lasting energy.

Together, Organic Valley Butter and collagen will provide you with the nutrients your body needs to start the day off right.
